The Challenge

The NEWS 18 team had close to 200 unique trivia pieces about elections in India throughout the years, which they recommended would add a lot of value for their users at the time of much awaited 2019 Lok Sabha election results. They wanted a way to visualize these facts in the form of interesting bite-sized video pieces that can be quickly generated and pushed out on Youtube.

The Solution

Given the significance of the project and the extremely short turn-around time that the team would have to create these videos on the day of the results, we ideated and designed a custom workflow for the team, that they could use to churn out these videos in under 10 mins per video.

The Execution

– We designed a motion background based template in sync with the theme of elections, so that the team wouldn’t have to bother finding relevant media for the videos but could just leverage the text of the facts to create stunning results.
– We also ensured that the videos didn’t take anything longer than 5 mins to render, by scaling our servers on the day of the election.
– Last but not the least, we wanted to make sure for complete last-mile support for the team and hence, had a dedicated video expert work with the team on the day of the results to ensure minimum friction.
– Given that the project was a last minute strategic move by the brand, we made end-to-end execution feasible within a span of 12 hours.

The Impact

The team was able to create more than 40 high-impact videos within a short span of 3 hours and was able to delight its users on Youtube.
