Claude Code + invideo

Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent. It runs in your terminal, your IDE and the desktop app, and reads files, edits them and runs commands. Paired with invideo, it builds a cut on an invideo timeline from your script and footage, generates shots and exports the video.

Quick start

  1. 1

    Install Claude Code

    Install the Claude Code CLI

    curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
  2. 2

    Install the invideo CLI

Needs Node.js. To run it without installing, use npx invideo@latest

    npm install -g invideo
  3. 3

    Sign in to invideo

Opens your browser. Approve it with your invideo account

    invideo auth login
  4. 4

    Ask for the video

Start Claude Code in the folder with your footage and ask. It runs invideo commands, and each answer links to the edit in invideo Editor

Read https://github.com/invideoio/cli/blob/main/AGENTS.md, then use the invideo CLI to make a 30-second launch video with a voiceover and music
  5. 5

    Or add the MCP server

Instead of the CLI, add invideo's MCP server, then run /mcp in Claude Code, choose invideo and sign in

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp

What Claude can do

  • The top models, one server

Generate images, video and audio across the top models without a key for each.

  • A real timeline

Agents cut on an editing timeline you can open, change and export yourself.

  • Color correction

Grade each shot with exposure, white balance, curves and masks.

  • Audio mixing

Music, voice and effects on their own tracks, leveled and fit to the cut.

  • Stock and your library

Search stock video, images and music, or reuse files already in the project.

  • Agents check their work

Frame grabs and filmstrips let an agent look at the cut before it calls it done.

  • Checkpoints and branches

Save checkpoints, branch to try another cut and restore any saved point.

  • Share in one link

Export pages your team can watch, comment on and download from.

Tips for success

  • Set up the invideo CLI or the MCP server first. The workflows below use them
  • Run claude mcp list to check invideo is connected
  • Name an existing project and Claude can find it in your workspace
  • Ask Claude to check the timeline for gaps before exporting

Frequently asked questions

Should I use the invideo CLI or the MCP server?

Either works, on the same invideo timeline. With the CLI, Claude Code runs invideo commands in your terminal, follows the rules in the CLI's AGENTS.md and saves exports and frames straight to disk. The MCP server gives Claude Code invideo's tools inside its session, with nothing to install.

How do I give Claude Code access to invideo?

Install the invideo CLI with npm install -g invideo and sign in with invideo auth login. Or add the invideo MCP server with claude mcp add --transport http --scope user invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp, then run /mcp in Claude Code, choose invideo and sign in with your invideo account. Either way Claude gets invideo Editor for timelines, generation and exports.

Can Claude Code edit existing invideo projects?

Yes. Ask Claude for the project by name. It finds it in your invideo workspace, then edits and exports it.

How do I fix a broken edit with Claude?

Ask Claude to check your timeline. It reads the cut, grabs frames where something looks off, then fixes the problems and exports again.

Troubleshooting

Issue:Claude can't find invideo's tools

Solution:Make sure the invideo MCP server is installed with claude mcp add --transport http --scope user invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp and restart Claude Code.

Issue:MCP server connection fails

Solution:Run claude mcp list to verify the invideo MCP server is installed. Re-add it with claude mcp add --transport http --scope user invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp.
