Cursor + invideo

Cursor is Anysphere's AI code editor, with an agent that plans, edits across files and runs commands. Add invideo's MCP server in one click and the same agent makes product demos and release videos next to the code they show, cut on an invideo timeline you can open and edit.

Quick start

  1. 1

    Install Cursor

Download Cursor for macOS, Windows or Linux and sign in

  2. 2

    Add invideo in one click

Opens Cursor's install prompt with invideo filled in. Confirm it in Cursor

  3. 3

    Sign in with invideo

Cursor asks you to sign in when the server connects. Approve it with your invideo account. No API key needed

  4. 4

    Make a demo video

Ask Cursor's agent in chat. It opens a project in invideo Editor, sends you the link and builds the cut

Make a 45-second demo of the feature in this branch from the recordings in ./demo
  5. 5

    Or use the invideo CLI

Working in a terminal? Install the CLI and run invideo auth login. It edits the same invideo timeline from any shell or coding agent

    npm install -g invideo
  6. 6

    Or add it by hand

Instead of the button, add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then sign in with your invideo account when Cursor connects

    {"mcpServers":{"invideo":{"url":"https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp"}}}

MCP configuration

Connect Cursor to invideoInstall the remote MCP server in one click. Sign in with your invideo account. No API key needed.

  • “Cut these screen recordings into a product walkthrough with a label for each step”

  • “Write and generate a voiceover for the walkthrough, then duck the music under it”

  • “Add a title card with our product name and an end card with the docs link”

  • “Generate b-roll for the intro and place it before the first screen recording”

Common workflows

  1. 1Connect and check

    • Choose Add invideo on invideo's MCP page
    • Confirm the install when Cursor opens
    • Sign in with your invideo account
    • Check invideo is turned on under Customize > MCPs
  2. 2Demo from a diff

    • Ask the agent for a demo of the change, with your screen recordings
    • It reads the diff and writes a short script
    • It uploads the recordings, builds the cut and sends you the link
    • Ask for changes in chat, or take over in the editor
  3. 3Release video from the changelog

    • Point the agent at your CHANGELOG.md
    • It drafts a script from the release notes
    • It adds b-roll, on-screen text and music on the timeline
    • It exports the video to an export page you can share

Tips for success

  • Add invideo to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one
  • Cursor may ask before it uses an MCP tool. Approve invideo's tools, or allowlist them under Settings > Agents > Approvals & Execution
  • Turn invideo's tools on or off from the tools list at the top of the chat panel
  • Keep invideo Editor open to watch each edit land under the agent's cursor

Frequently asked questions

How do I add invideo to Cursor?

Click the button in the quick start above and Cursor installs the server in one click. Or use the invideo CLI: run npm install -g invideo, then invideo auth login. Or add {"mcpServers":{"invideo":{"url":"https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp"}}} to ~/.cursor/mcp.json by hand. Cursor asks you to sign in with invideo when the server connects. There is no API key.

Do I need an invideo account?

Yes. You sign in with an invideo account when Cursor connects, and you can create one during sign-in.

Can I edit while Cursor's agent is working?

Yes. You and the agent work in the same editor. You see its cursor and each edit as it happens, and you can make your own edits at any time.

What can I export?

A rendered video, or an editable project for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Exports come from a project saved to your invideo account.

Troubleshooting

Issue:The one-click link opens Cursor but nothing installs

Solution:Add {"mcpServers":{"invideo":{"url":"https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp"}}} to ~/.cursor/mcp.json by hand, save it and restart Cursor.

Issue:Cursor's agent doesn't use invideo's tools

Solution:Check invideo is turned on under Customize > MCPs and its tools are on in the chat panel's tools list, then ask for invideo by name.

Issue:The server fails to connect or sign in

Solution:Open the Output panel (Cmd+Shift+U on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+U elsewhere) and choose MCP Logs. Then remove invideo from Customize > MCPs, add it again and sign in.
