Who is Beeble AI?

Beeble is a Seoul-based startup founded in 2022 by ex-Krafton researchers, led by CEO Hoon Kim, with a $4.75M seed round in July 2024 per press reports. How does SwitchX work?

Three inputs drive every generation: the source video, a reference image acting as the style, lighting, and mood blueprint (it can be AI-generated in-app and needn't match the plate), and a text prompt, with an Autopilot prompt-assist available. Masked regions are fully re-generated to match the reference and prompt; unmasked pixels are kept from the source — and, crucially, relit and harmonized so the untouched subject sits believably in the new lighting rather than looking pasted in.

Why VFX pipelines take SwitchX seriously

Most AI video tools speak consumer formats; Beeble's stack speaks post-production. Its Nuke, Blender, and Unreal integrations predate SwitchX, Foundry co-published a Nuke tutorial for it in May 2026, and the companion model SwitchHDR (July 2026) reconstructs 16-bit scene radiance from 8-bit SDR footage and exports EXR sequences in ACES2065-1 — color-pipeline literacy still rare among generative tools. Strengths and known limits

Strengths. Pixel-level grounding to source footage is the differentiator — identity and performance survive the switch, where prompt-only restyling drifts. The mask workflow scales from one-click Auto to externally-authored mattes, and the relight-and-harmonize pass solves the classic composite problem of subjects that don't match their new environment.

Limits. Cloud output tops out at 1080p as of August 2026 (Beeble's desktop Studio line supports 4K for other tools, but SwitchX is cloud-only). A documented quirk: the model only "sees" unmasked regions, so tracking markers inside a mask are lost, which can degrade motion inference even on simple linear camera moves. And per-generation credit costs aren't published, so cost-per-shot takes testing.

What should you use SwitchX for?

  • Background replacement without keying — a heavier-duty cousin of the video background remover workflow, moving an actor into a new environment with relighting included.

Getting good results

Choose the reference image carefully — it, not the prompt, sets the lighting and mood, so pick one whose light direction roughly suits your subject. Use the narrowest mask mode that does the job: Auto for subjects, Select for elements, Fill only for full restyles. Keep tracking markers outside masked regions. And favor plates with clean subject separation; SwitchX needs no green screen, but it can't recover what the footage never captured.
