Can AI remove objects from video without leaving artifacts?

Yes — AI in-paint and cleanup can now remove objects from existing video cleanly, but artifact-free results hinge on three factors: background reconstruction quality, shadow and reflection handling, and temporal stability across frames. Google Omni Flash treats object removal as a native footage feature, and edge-preserving swap workflows cut the halo artifacts that mask-based fills leave behind.

Start by judging the shot against the three things that produce visible artifacts: how well the model reconstructs the background behind the removed object, whether it also removes the object's shadow and reflections, and whether the fill stays stable frame to frame instead of flickering. On resolution specifically: Omni Flash outputs default to 720p with a 1080p upscale at no cost, while 4K costs the equivalent of a full generation — always check your cleaned shot at the resolution you'll actually deliver, since artifacts invisible at 720p can surface after upscaling.
