How do you hide AI video limitations through smart shot composition?

Hide AI video limitations by assigning AI only the shots it renders convincingly and composing around everything else:

Keep AI on wide environment shots — pull out, don't push in. AI characters hold up at a distance and collapse in close-up: faces, hands, and micro-expressions are where viewers spot the fake. "If you push into this shot, or if the shot is too close, and you're going to get the actual character doing any kind of acting, that's when things look fake," says Alex Arfaoui, filmmaker. Build the world outward from a locked practical shot. Shoot your constrained practical action first, then generate wide environment shots that place the same action in a larger world. Seams between AI and practical shots show at transitions, so carry atmosphere across them: matching haze between an exterior and interior, consistent light direction, the same weather in every angle of a scene. When the atmosphere reads continuous, the viewer accepts the AI shot as part of the same world.

Pick AI shots by story logic, not visual impressiveness. Choose the generation that continues the action, not the one that looks most cinematic in isolation. In the pool example, the practical screenshot showed the actor on hands and knees coming out of the water, so a shoreline wide was the right AI shot — the two shots cut together because the action matches. Narrative continuity covers texture flaws that a spectacular-but-disconnected shot would expose.

Compose in fragments and salvage weak generations in the edit. First-generation output is rarely final, so extract the best seconds from multiple imperfect generations and splice them into one sequence rather than waiting for a perfect clip. Footage that looks obviously artificial at normal speed can still work as insert shots: in one production, AI energy clips were speed-ramped 1,000–5,000% in Premiere Pro and cut into a chaotic burst that read as real. Finish every AI shot with sound design and a color grade — sound is the multiplier that makes AI inserts feel physical, and a unified grade blends AI and practical footage into one look.
